How the Extension Works

FeedFirewall operates entirely within your browser:

• Local Processing: All content analysis happens directly in your browser using pattern-matching algorithms. No data ever leaves your device.
• Local Storage: Your preferences (sensitivity settings, display options) are stored locally using your browser's built-in storage API.
• Local Analytics: If you use the analytics dashboard, all statistics are calculated and stored locally on your device.

Browser Permissions

FeedFirewall requests the following permissions:

• Storage: Used to save your preferences (like sensitivity level and display settings) locally in your browser. This data never leaves your device.
• Host Permissions (x.com, twitter.com, linkedin.com): Required to run the content detection scripts on these specific websites only. The extension cannot access any other websites.

Third-Party Services

FeedFirewall does not use any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising services. The extension makes no external network requests.

For Pro users: License key validation may require a one-time verification request to our licensing server, which only confirms the validity of your license key. No browsing data is transmitted during this process.

Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your device:

• Settings: Stored in your browser's local storage
• Analytics data: Stored locally and can be deleted at any time through the extension settings
• License key (Pro users): Stored locally in your browser

You can delete all stored data at any time by removing the extension from your browser.

Data Security

Since all data processing happens locally and no data is transmitted externally, your information is protected by your browser's built-in security mechanisms. We cannot access your data because it never leaves your device.
